Helmsley Walled Garden Wedding Editorial

April 2017 saw Helmsley Walled Garden open its gates to lots of brides & grooms -to-be for an exciting open weekend, showcasing some amazing local wedding businesses. I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot an editorial shoot on the grounds the day before the open day, with the vendors who would be there for the weekend.

The lovely Hannah Sylvester, writer & designer from Brides of Yorkshire, joined us on the shoot to give her readers an insight as to what goes on during styled photoshoots & you can read her lovely article & view her images from behind the scenes here;

I’m always so grateful to be able to work with talented Yorkshire Wedding suppliers & this shoot was no exception. We wanted to create inspiration for all the summer bride & grooms, in-coperating lots of luscious green foliage & flowers (as always, my favourite type!) and creating a cosy luxe atmosphere, proving Tipi’s can be used for chic weddings & not just rustic weddings!

Chapel Garth Estate Wedding Editorial, Rock My Wedding Feature

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with some of Yorkshire’s finest wedding vendors on a wedding editorial shoot. I’m always so excited to be asked to collaborate on editorials as its the perfect way to network with other industry specialists and showcase our creativity.

The shoot itself was organised by the amazing Sian Chaplin of Sian Chaplin Events, every little detail of the day was planned perfectly, there wasn’t a thing Sian hadn’t thought of in advance. Sian was able to listen to our ideas and cohesively pull everyone’s visions together, she was on hand to help with every detail throughout the day, an invaluable member of the team!

Our host for our editorial was the beautiful Edwardian Chapelgarth Estate in Great Broughton, North Yorkshire. A charming house set within its own grounds, surrounded by beautiful countryside, this venue is perfect for an intimate wedding or party, with guest accommodation.

The absolutely impeccable cakes were created by Jo of White Rose Cake Design, Jo was also the mastermind behind our theme for the editorial, which was Ballet, fitting with my Fine Art Photography style perfectly. But back to the cakes, they were absolutely stunning, the attention to detail and the way they fit so perfectly with the ballet brief was amazing, so elegant with their blush tones and floral decoration.

Alison from Alison Jane Bridal provided our beautiful dress for our model to wear, Alison was on hand all day to make any quick alterations that were needed and style the dress perfectly for each shot. The dress & veil were exquisite, the detailing perfect for any wedding day.

Stephanie Duerden was our MUA for the shoot, the look she created on Kayleigh was beautiful, perfectly working to the brief of a natural, elegant look.

Catherine Elizabeth was our amazing hair stylist who was on hand last minute to join us on the day after our original stylist fell ill the day before. The look she created was absolutely stunning, so elegant and feminine.

Kayleigh Richmond was our breathtakingly beautiful model on the day, this lady is absolutely fabulous, braving the cold March day with no complaints. Taking direction easily as well as being confident enough to direct herself, a ballet dancer and a model all rolled into one perfect lady!

Jane of JB Creatives supplied the beautiful wedding stationary for our editorial. The beautiful hand torn edges and soft charcoal text worked perfectly with our ballet theme, on beautiful thick parchment paper, this stationary complimented the beautifully styled table flawlessly.

Last but certainly not least, our florist & stylist for the day was Sarah of Styling Farm. This lady is a very special lady, her and her creations genuinely create a fire inside me, her work simply inspires me to no end. Sarah is absolutely fabulous at creating the most spectaculer tables, bouquets and floral arrangements. There are not many words I can use to describe Sarah’s work, so I shall let these photographs speak for themselves.

Harrogate Wedding Photographer, St George Hotel Wedding Harrogate

Congratulations to Ashlie & Lee who tied the knot at St Thomas the Apostle Church, Killinghall, Harrogate and held their beautiful reception at the St George Hotel in Harrogate.

I love weddings at any location, no matter where in the UK, or Europe, but there’s something so special about shooting a wedding in your own town, with the church being a 10-minute car ride from my own doorstep,  I knew this wedding was going to be something special. Ashlie & Lee are one of the warmest couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with, it was no wonder their family and friends were so emotional on the morning of the wedding, everyone was simply so happy for them, the day was brimming with love from every direction. The bridesmaids looked simply stunning in matching dresses & the boys looked so dapper in their matching suits, the bride & groom, however, looked absolutely beautiful, full of smiles and love and I was also pretty obsessed with Ashlie’s Jenny Packham bridal shoes.

I just would like to wish Ashlie & Lee a lifetime of happiness & success, they literally have the world at their feet & have each other to lean on for life, with their beautiful black lab Messi, they make the most beautiful little family!

Priory Cottages Wedding, Yorkshire Wedding Photographer

Rebecca and David married at the beautiful Priory Cottages Wedding Venue in October 2016, situated near Wetherby, North Yorkshire. The most perfect idyllic little spot, for such a wonderful wedding.

When I first went to visit Priory Cottages Wedding Venue & Barn with my bride-to-be, Rebecca, I knew this wedding and venue were going something special. Down a private little lane, lies one of the most stunning wedding venues in the area, with exclusive hire during your wedding for you and your guests to party the night away and stroll to bed in the beautifully decorated cottages, right next door to the wedding barn!

A beautiful ancient church is where David & Rebecca tied the knot, just down the road in a tiny village called Wighill, this church was simply magical, rustic with ancient Roman carvings, take a look for yourself, you’ll soon see why I have so much love for this wedding and the locations that were used.

The blushing bride wore a beautiful Caroline Castigliano wedding dress, and the men looked dapper in DKNY suits. Eucalyptus was placed around the venue as a beautiful floral touch, and the bride had the most beautiful floral bouquet. Tasteful touches were what this wedding was all about, and they did not disappoint.

But just before you indulge into Rebecca & David’s wedding photographs,  I would also love to leave you with the testimonial I was left by Rebecca & her husband upon receiving her final wedding photo collection, honestly, when my mum read it, she cried! I was absolutely honoured to be a part of this special couples, absolutely breathtaking day & I wish them all the happiness in the world.

“Our photographer was Arabella Smith of Fine Art Weddings. We didn’t really want a formal wedding photographer but stumbled across Arabella on Facebook. I’d already looked at a few wedding photographers online and none of them seemed very ‘us’. Arabella had done some shots of a friend’s children that were beautiful and I looked into her further and found she’d also done some beautiful wedding photography. I knew she was perfect before I even met her – I think I even told her unless she had two heads when I met her I was definitely booking her!

She was probably the best decision I made in the run-up to the wedding. She was just amazing. Someone told me once that your wedding photos are the most important thing about your wedding as they are the physical memories you’ll look at and cherish forever – and they were so right!

From our initial consultation to the end pictures, everything about Arabella was exceptional. She understood our personalities perfectly and worked with us on everything. She captured some beautiful posed pictures of all of us and also some really brilliant action shots which I will cherish forever – I needed the pictures of my son doing the crab in his Star Wars boxer shorts just as much as I needed photos of me in my wedding dress! I’d recommend her to anyone and everyone.”

A beautiful wedding I shot back in October has been featured on the Brides Up North blog! It’s a massive honour to have a wedding featured & I’m so pleased.

The wedding itself was absolutely gorgeous, I’m not surprised Brides Up North wanted to feature it, relaxed, family orientated and a day full of laughs and giggles. Simply put, a perfect wedding!

You can read the full article here: http://bridesupnorth.com/2017/02/13/love-hearts-caroline-castigliano-for-a-relaxed-wedding-at-priory-cottages-rebecca-david/

A glowing review left by Rebecca was also featured in the article, the words were so sweet and a perfect reminder of why I love my job so much. I must admit, when I showed my mum the testimonial, she cried tears of happiness (how cute is my mum!)

Northorpe Barn Wedding, Harrogate Wedding Photographer

Congratulations to Kristian & Stacy who tied the knot at Northorpe Barn & Wedding Venue in Mirfield, Yorkshire.

Kristian & Stacy tied the knot with a beautiful Northorpe Barn wedding, a lovely barn venue set in its own grounds in Yorkshire. One of the amazing things about Northorpe Barn is that it is an active charity which supports children’s mental and emotional health in the local area. One of the most notable points to make in regards to this venue is when you hire out the barn for your wedding, the income supports the Northorpe Barn charity, which I believe is a truly wonderful idea.

The wedding day started with Bridal prep at the nearby Gomersal Park Hotel, which was a total girly affair. Including champagne and giggles all morning long (my favorite kind of bridal prep!). The room was filled with all the girls and the little giggles of the children could be heard all morning.

Moving on to Northorpe Barn for the wedding ceremony (and party!!), which was beautifully decorated just to the couple’s taste. The barn is beautiful, but brides can decorate how they wish, which is always a bonus for a bride with style. With the rest of the day flowing effortlessly and surrounded by friends and family celebrating the special day. A relaxed day with beautiful sunshine and a truly happy couple, it was every bride’s dream come true.

Kristian & Stacy, I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

What is Fine Art Wedding Photography?

So what is Fine Art Wedding Photography and why should you consider this style for your wedding photographs?

Firstly it goes without saying, Fine art wedding photographs are considered. It is probably the most fundamental part of this style of photography, each image is curated and captured and is not a quick snap, or 100’s of snaps and hoping for the best, as Fine Art Wedding PhotograpFine Art Wedding Photographyhers we consider each image, composition, background, lighting and texture before taking the images. To capture these perfect moments we take a documentary/reportage stance on the day, waiting for the natural moments between lovers and friends and once we see those moments, then we capture those beautiful images.

The colours, the colours and tones of Fine Art Wedding Photography images are something truly special, the style is heavily based on film photography, which is known for beautiful pastel colours and of course, black and white images too. So expect beautiful soft colours, pastel greens and golden sunshine. The use of natural light is also a huge element to Fine Art Wedding Photography, it helps create these soft tones, and so a day filled with beautiful natural light is perfect for us as photographers.

Elegant, feminine and natural are my favorite words to describe my style and I pride myself on not only capturing moments which happen during your we
dding day, but also the finer details that have taken so much planning, your beautiful florals, jewellery and rings, to name a few.

So is Fine Art Photography the right style for you? Do you ever find yourself spending hours reading wedding blogs such as Style Me Pretty or Wedding Sparrow? Looking for inspiration and cooing over the beautifully romantic images?  I do and if you do too, then we are a perfect match and I think you need a Fine Art Wedding Photographer in your life.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park Wedding

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Dell, here are a few words and also a few of my favourite photographs from your beautiful Yorkshire Sculpture Park wedding.

I was delighted when Fay & Jon asked me to be their photographer for their beautiful Yorkshire Sculpture Park wedding. The grounds of Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield UK, are simply breathtaking, you can see for miles and the acres are filled with quirky works of art which Fay & Jon were excited to incorporate into their wedding photography. Their wedding day was filled with friends, family and laughter from all it was a truly lovely, relaxed wedding.

Everything was beautifully simplistic with a touch of class which brought the whole wedding together in the most perfect way, the flowers were luscious bouquets of natural greenery (they smelt absolutely divine, even our groom couldn’t stop smelling them!). With hair and make-up that was beautifully natural, every ounce of the wedding day was so personal to Jon & Fay, which is what makes a fabulous wedding!  It was great to be back in Yorkshire to capture this wedding and I can’t thank Jon & Fay enough for having me there as their wedding photographer.

Olympic Lagoon Hotel, Ayia Napa, Cyprus Wedding

Congratulations to Rachel & Damien who jetted off to Cyprus for an Olympic Lagoon Hotel, Ayia Napa, Cyprus Wedding.

What a way to start my wedding season, I felt so excited & honoured to shoot this beautiful wedding in Cyprus, I knew this would be the first wedding I would shoot under my new branding, so it made it even more special. Rachel & Damien asked me to photograph their wedding in 2015, I could not say no. I knew this would be a beautiful, romantic day & I had been counting down the days, then April came & it was time to jet off from rainy Harrogate & into the sunshine in Cyprus.

Rachel & Damien married at the beautiful Olympic Lagoon Hotel in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, the Island of love, could that be any more perfect for a wedding destination? It was surely a wedding I won’t forget in a hurry from & I feel so honoured to have been asked to share their wedding & capture these special memories.

p.s. check out my brides amazing Sophia Webster shoes, they say ‘wifey for lifey’ underneath…amazing!
